My Dear Clients

In 1988, I graduate ranking first in school from Ankara Kocatepe Mimar Kemal High School. I graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and became a specialist in dermatological and venereal diseases in 1997 with the TUS exam. I worked as a Dermatologist at TBMM Hospital between 1998-2016. Since 2015, I have been serving you, our clients, in our own clinic.

Laser Epilation Devices

Laser epilation is the most effective permanent hair removal method. We can collect laser hair removal devices under 4 categories. These:

  • Alexandrite laser
  • Diode laser
  • Long pulsed ND yag laser
  • IPL Light systems The target is selective thermolysis. Selective photothermolysis; It aims to destroy the hair by destroying the melanin in the hair follicle without damaging the chromophores in the surrounding tissues.
Do You Have Questions About Laser Hair Removal Devices?

Briefly, what are the features of lasers used for epilation?

The epilation laser must have sufficient energy at the appropriate wavelength, appropriate pulse duration, to the targeted chromophore. However, it should have a suitable cooling system to protect surrounding tissues and a spot size to limit energy distribution. Longer wavelength lasers are used in people with dark skin and tanned people, since they do not affect the epidermis. Long wavelength lasers affect the deeper, causing easier hair root destruction. The effect is important, but epidermal cooling systems are also important in order to prevent epidermal damage and reduce pain sensation. Cooling systems prevent possible epidermal thermal damage and help the rays coming from the laser and IPL system to affect the desired area.

Is laser hair removal FDA approved?

All laser epilation systems and IPL Light system are FDA approved. Although the destroyed hairs vary from person to person, they disappear completely.

What are the types of laser to be used in epilation?

  1. Alexandrite Laser has a wavelength of 755 nm. Long pulsed types are more effective. It is risky for people with dark skin. It is more effective on light skinned people, thick and darkhair. It is not effective on peach fuzz and hair that is weakened after epilation. It should not be applied to tanned skin.
  2. Diode Laser has less melanin selectivity than Alexandrite laser. Since they can penetrate deeper, side effects are less. It can also be applied to dark skinned and tanned people. It is effective on dark and light colored thick hair. It has no effect on thin hair.
  3. ND Yag Laser has a wavelength of 1064 nm. Provides deeper shot due to its long wavelength. It is effective on people with dark skin and dark hair. It can reach very high energies, so it is more effective in light hair than others. The feeling of pain is high, the feeling of pain can be reduced with the cooling system.

What are the advantages of laser epilation?

It provides permanent, effective, long-lasting hair removal compared to other epilation methods. Epilation is applied to larger areas in a shorter time. It is also used in ingrown hair treatment. It is a reliable method. There is no risk of infection. It is not toxic and carcinogenic. It leaves no scars when applied at the appropriate dose on the appropriate skin. It does not irritate the skin.

For Your Questions

What are the side effects?

Laser selection should be made according to the color of the skin and hair. Epidermal damage may occur due to unwanted partial absorption of the laser beam. As a result of this damage, crust formation, water-filled bubbles, dark or light pigmentations may occur. These side effects are more common in people with dark skin. There may be cold injuries due to cooling devices. Acne-like lesions and hives may occur. There may be an increase in hair by 10% after IPL.

Who shouldn’t it apply to?

It should not be applied to pregnant women and people younger than 16 years old. It should not be applied to infected skin areas and carcinogenic lesions. Tanned people should not be applied.

What should be considered before and after laser?

It should be protected from the sun 15 days before the epilation day and should continue to be protected from the sun for 15 days after the procedure. Perfume, cologne and make-up should not be applied to the application area on the day of epilation. In summary, laser should be selected for laser epilation according to skin type, hair feature and thickness. Tanned people should not be treated before their skin colors return to normal, and longer wavelength systems should be preferred for dark skinned people. Light colored hair will not be affected; The person should be told that the effectiveness will be less in gray, red and blond hair. Appropriate cooling systems should be used to prevent epidermal damage. 4-12 treatment sessions are required for an effective epilation. After repeated sessions, hair reduction is seen six months after the last treatment.
